Tom Compton 6th Round Pick Washington Redskins Scouting Report from Bleecher Report/NFL Network Tom Compton may be unknown to many after four years playing for the University of South Dakota, but he is ready to make a name for himself in the NFL. The 6’5″, 314-pound Compton excelled and started in all four of his seasons with the Coyotes. In that time, he was a three-time All-Great West selection, earning an honorable mention in 2009 followed by being named to the first team in 2010 and 2011. Last year, Compton was named the Great West Conference offensive lineman of the year and an FCS All-American. According to NFL.com, “he has shown the efficiency, smarts, and athletic ability to survive at the next level.” Compton’s strengths lie in his nearly perfect footwork. He is quick off the ball and can use angles effectively to get upfield on linebackers while not letting his man get behind him. Compton also plays with good leverage and has the ability to drive the defender off the line of scrimmage. Compton possesses long arms that boast a nearly 34-inch reach and solid hands in pass protection. According to CBSSports.com, Compton had a great practice week at the East-West Shrine Game. At the combine, meanwhile, he was one of the top performers at his position in the 40-yard dash (5.03 seconds), 20-yard shuttle (4.6 seconds), vertical jump (30″), broad jump (108″) and 3-cone drill (7.59 seconds). http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine/09000d5d827c49d6/2012-combine-workout-Tom-Compton Tom Compton’s Combine Video Interview link: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/coach-bigb/2012/05/08/one-on-one-w-tom-compton-6th-round-pick-washington-redskins New Show link posted above

Coach Bill Mountjoy Tiger Cat Defensive Attack 425/44 Notes from Coach Bill Mountjoy: ADVANTAGES of 4-2-5 (AKA 4-4) 1. IT IS A BALANCED DEFENSE WITH 4 PLAYERS TO EACH SIDE THUS MAKING IT MUCH EASIER TO ADJUST TO ANY OFFENSIVE FORMATION OR MOTION. 2. WE FEEL WE NEED 4 MEN ON EACH SIDE OF THE BALL TO STOP OPTION OFFENSES. 3. IT LIMITS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PRACTICALLY ALL SPLIT-END OFFENSES. 4. IT LIMITS THE OFF-TACKLE PLAY BECAUSE IT TAKES AWAY THE DOUBLE TEAM BLOCK. 5. IT IS A GREAT CONTAIN DEFENSE WITH OLB’s IN A “TRUE END” POSITION. 6. IT HELPS LIMIT THE INSIDE OFFENSE BECAUSE THEY HAVE JUST 3 MEN IN EFFECTIVE POSITION TO BLOCK YOUR 4 IN THE MIDDLE – THUS FORCING TEAMS TO RUN OUTSIDE WHERE THEY HAVE A ONE-ON-ONE BLOCKING SCHEME. 7. NO DEFENSIVE PLAYER HAS OVER ONE GAP AS HIS RESPONSIBILITY. 8. IT GIVES YOU A BETTER PASS RUSH, AND, STUNTING PACKAGE BY ALLOWING YOU TO SEND 4 PLAYERS TO EITHER SIDE. 9.
Coach Will Compton Mini Bio: I’m 32 years old. I am married and have 2 wonderful children ages 7 and 3. I am completing my 9th year of teaching and coaching. I went to school at Angelo State University. I was on the football team for 3 years. I started out as a JH coach at Altair Rice Consolidated after 2 years I took a position at Refugio a small 2A in South Texas where I was named Offensive Coordinator. I took Refugio from a traditional Wing-T team into a spread based team we went 3 rounds in the playoffs. My Head Coach at the time Chris Jones then took a position at 4A powerhouse La Marque. It was at this time that we switched to the Air Raid Offense. At the end of the season Coach Jones decided to move back to West Texas. So I took the Assistant Athletic Director and Offensive Coordinator job at Mabank. A small 4A in East Texas. Here we averaged 428 Yards per game and produced an All- State QB in Kolton Browning now at ULM. After 2 years at Mabank I received a call from Dereck Rush who asked me to come to John Tyler. We have made it to the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals the past 2 years. We have broken almost every Offensive record that John Tyler had. Some include most point in a season (645), Most Passing yards ( 3782) Most YPG ( 487). Our QB also had one of the highest completion rates in the state. He was 283-393 with 34 TD and 5 INT. Interview link: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/coach-bigb/2012/04/25/1st-of-up-on-this-weeks-triple-header-coach-compton Film Cut-Up w/ ppt. http://www.hudl.com/presview/48147
